#Friday5 – blog round up June 21st

Welcome to #Friday5 a quick round up of articles and news about sex blogging and writing that have caught our eye this week.

Alison Tyler has a call for submissions for an anthology to raise funds to support Sommer Marsden and her family.  I’d wager that nearly every aspiring erotica writer has a Sommer Marsden story in their library and for good reason – she’s a great writer with a fantastic ability to tell a pulse quickening story.  Sadly her family is facing cancer at the moment and Alison Tyler and Tamsin Flowers have put together this initiative to support Sommer in the best way they know how – with their words.  The call is for short <1,000 word stories with the theme of  summer, deadline is August 1st.

Kristen Lamb gives some honest advice on using Facebook pages to promote your books.  I’m guilty of at least one of these six reasons, how about you?

ERWA have a great piece looking at the art of critical appraisal for erotica.  The ERWA blog is a fantastic resource for erotica writers and the advice here is useful whether you are critiquing another writer’s words or your own.

Behind the Chintz Curtain blog gives an appraisal of the Sex Toy Stories on Channel 4 this week.  Did you watch the show? What were your thoughts?

Afterglow Art ponder the risks of dating an erotic writer:  Writers are often told to “write what they know” this light hearted posts looks at this and five other risks of dating an erotic writer, though for some the risks might look like delightful invitations.

That’s all for this week, if you see a blog or news item you think is worth shouting about, tweet us with the hashtag #Friday5 to share it.
