Editor’s view : Eroticon and Write Sex Right 2015 plans

Ruby Kiddell editors viewI had meant to write this post in January, but I’m so rubbish at New Year’s Resolutions that I’ve already managed to blunder the only one I made this year – write a post for Write Sex Right once a month.

But, I’m here now so let’s get on with it.

What’s this “Editor’s View” column about then?

Well it is me, Ruby Kiddell, editor of Write Sex Right and founder of Eroticon, talking to you, sex bloggers, erotica writers and any one else that will pay attention, about what’s going on with the blog, the conference, the world of sex blogging, erotica, adult industry and whatever else seems relevant.

Today I’d like to tell you a little bit about quite a  big plan I have: Eroticon Online.

The Eroticon conferences are wonderful events, however one thing that has always been frustrating for me is that there are so many people that can’t attend due to the logistics of finances, geography or timings. I understand people’s frustrations and disappointments with this; there are many more events and workshops that I can’t attend than those that I do. For a long time I thought that the answer would be to do smaller, regional events, but the logistics of these where prohibitive, not only in that they too would have a limit in terms of who could attend, but also for me as they wouldn’t be cost effective to put on.

Many times people ask me if I would live stream the events, but this didn’t seem like an answer to me as it would compromise the privacy of the event. I feel very strongly that Eroticon is a safe place where people can come and use any name they like and know that their identity is respected. If  having a video camera in a conference workshop means that even just one delegate felt unable to ask a question then that’s not a risk I feel is okay for the conference.

And then, at the end of last year I stumbled upon the answer; an online workshop platform.

I’ve been working on a project for my marketing business and realised that it would be a perfect solution for people that can’t get to Eroticon, as well as those that can.

The idea is still very  much in the planning stages but I’m confident that by the time Eroticon 2015 comes around in August I’ll be ready to launch the Eroticon online learning platform.

That’s all for this month, or is it last month – whichever!

I’d love to hear your feedback about this idea so please do leave a comment below.

I think this is a fabulous idea and it will make Eroticon accessible to a lot more people. I look forward to see the online part of Eroticon!
