Best Blog Hops for Erotic Authors

If exposure is the name of the game, sharing teasers of your erotic writing in weekly blog hops can help boost your blog’s page hits and gain new readers. When I first started participating in blog hops I groused that the only people who visited were other authors, but then I realized that they’re the perfect kind of visitors.  They’re wonderful for networking and mutual support and hey, they read and buy books, too! Plus, just because readers don’t stop and comment, doesn’t mean they don’t read your posts.

For tips on how to select a good snippet for blog hops, see this post by author Cara Bristol.

Each blog hop will have its own rules, so read carefully when you join up. Usually you are expected to post the image from the blog hop and the linky list of participants.  There may be rule on length of the post. Some enforce the rules more aggressively than others. They also have their unspoken etiquette–for example, the Saturday Spankers tend to visit each other’s blogs and give a high five. Others don’t expect that kind of participation.

Here is the list I’ve compiled of blog hops that are appropriate for erotic authors. If I missed any good ones, please let me know in the comments and I’ll add them in.

For other ideas on increasing your blog hits, see this article: Getting it Up: Blog Hits and Web Traffic.

Saturday Spankings  – Run by Kathryn Blake. 8 sentences from a wip or published book containing spanking.  This blog hop should increase your page views by 100-200. General courtesy on this hop is to visit your fellow authors and comment.  Captcha should be turned off.

My Sexy Saturday – 7 sentences or paragraphs.  You can combine with Saturday Spanks (but don’t use 8 sentences or you’ll get cut!).  Authors here don’t seem to visit each other. They have a Facebook page where you can also post the link to your entry.

Seductive Studs  – for M/M Romance

Six of the Best (Sunday) – Run by Kathryn Blake. Share 6 paragraphs. Not exclusive to erotic authors, but run by a spanking author, so definitely erotic friendly.

Weekend Writing Warriors (Sunday) – 8-10 sentences and choose ER for Erotica. I haven’t used this one yet, so I can’t say how much it will boost your traffic.

Scintillating Sunday – Run by Mile High Muses. 8 words sentences or paragraphs.  Lots of steam in this one, so a great place for erotic authors. You could probably combine this with Weekend Writing Warriors, but I haven’t tried it yet.

Sunday Snog – Run by Victoria Blisse.  Post an excerpt with kissing (doesn’t have to be lip to lip–creative interpretation is allowed).

Masturbation Monday – Run by Kayla Lords. If you were going to do one blog hop to boost page views, this is the one I recommend. You will get thousands of page hits.  Each week there’s a photo prompt, or you can post a masturbation scene from a book.

Taboo Tuesday – this is a great venue to share from work that contains taboo elements such as BDSM, bestiality, bloodplay, dark, edge play, erotica, incest, kink, naughty, non-consent, taboo, watersports, etc. Post 8-15 sentences from a taboo, dark, or edgy erotic work, or a 100-word blog post about a specific taboo, dark, or edgy erotic work if you are a blogger and not an author.

Wip it up Wednesday – Run by Melody Parks.  A place to share from a current work-in-progress or newly published work. Run by a spanking/BDSM author, so erotica is welcome.  No length requirement.

Midweek tease (Wednesday). Run by Sandra Bunino. Authors can post something from a new release, back listed title, WIP, or even flash fiction. Snippets should be teaser length (can be read in less than a min).
